Danielle Mongeon, a 17-year-old PTOEC member was one of four female gymnasts selected to represent Team Illinois at the Special Olympics USA games this summer in Princeton, New Jersey. A PTOEC member since the 3rd grade, this high school student has participated and medaled in many Special Olympics sports venues, but Danielle's her first love has always been gymnastics at World Class Gym. If you ask her, she would say she loves gymnastics, her coaches and vault the best! Danielle will compete in vault, beam, uneven bars and floor exercise and will be in contention for the All-Around medal. Her long time coach Jennifer Hitt, was also selected as the the Team Illinois gymnastics team and will accompanying Danielle and her teammates to New Jersey. Danielle is so proud to represent Illinois at the USA games and is excited to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime event! We'll be cheering for you Danielle - good luck at the USA Summer Games! Craig Dillaplain has been chosen to represent Area 12 and PTOEC in the Special Olympics USA Games in New Jersey June 14 – 21st, 2014. As part of the Illinois Team, Craig will be swimming the 25 yard backstroke, 25 yard breast stroke, 50 yard back stroke and the 4X25 medley. That's a lot of swimming! The swimming events will be held at Princeton University. Craig will be staying with his team during the games. John & Jeanne Dillaplain, Craig’s parents, will attend the games to support Craig and they expect other family members to attend as well. Craig has been competing in Illinois Special Olympics since 1986 and has won numerous local and state medals. The team will have the opportunity to have a cruise around the historic sites of Manhattan including the Statue of Liberty! Other activities include a Trenton Thunder Baseball Game, Opening Ceremony at the Prudential Center in Newark and Closing ceremony at Sun National Bank Center. Congratulations Craig!
